Debbie McGarrity wears many hats: Realtor, child care entrepreneur and an organizer of charitable events.
“Community is something that I have always cared about and real estate allows me to marry that to my pragmatic business sensibility,” she says.
A 16-year resident of Greenwich, Debbie has taken on the role of publicity chairperson for Dana’s Angels Research Trust (DART), a Greenwich-based charity committed to raising awareness and research funding to combat Niemann-Pick Type C disease and similar disorders. If a DART supporter buys or sells a house through Debbie, she will donate 10% of her commission to DART.
As a realtor, Debbie has honed an aptitude for two especially hot sectors of the Greenwich market, new construction and condominiums. Debbie’s interest in accommodating active suburban lifestyles extends beyond realty: In 1991 she co-founded a nanny placement service, Family Extensions, Inc., where she is executive director.
A cum laude graduate of Lehigh University with degrees in journalism and political science, Debbie and her husband Tom (born and raised in Greenwich) have three children.
